Still trying to get the hang of keeping a blog. It doesn't seem like it that should be such a hard thing. I mean you write a post, and then you publish it, what's so hard about that? I can't seem to get my head around posting daily...at least not yet anyway.
Well I guess it's just the art of creating a post that I'm finding difficult. Not even that, it's more like what do I post about? My life seems just so boring really. I guess I just have to figure out what exactly it is I want to say with this blog, but the only way to do that is to keep posting. Eventually I might figure it out if I keep posting here.
I just have to figure out how to incorporate my real life in to this blog. How much is ok to put in? I don't want to compromise other people's anonymity, especially if they don't know I'm even writing a blog, so I can't post pictures of my friends & relatives, so when I do get around to posting pictures, it'll probably just be of my dogs, of nature, of me and of other random things.

Puff pastry...
Who would have thought it would be so hard to find a block of puff pastry in a shop? I sure didn't, but between my mum & I we went to 3 different shops to try and get a block of it for my cooking class tonight and couldn't get it anywhere, so I'll just have to make & do with the sheets of puff pastry for what we're making tonight.

From the horses mouth to the internet...
I've finally decided to stop stalking blogs, and I'm taking that great leap of faith and actually creating a blog. Purely because the name for this blog hit me like a ton of bricks a few weeks ago and well, I keep coming back to the name: Doorstop Horse
It's all thanks to the cute little guy at the top of this blog, I found him in a shop a few weeks ago, and for only 20Euro I couldn't leave him all by himself with no home to go to (that's my reasoning anyway - despite the fact that he was one of a few doorstop horses, as well as doorstop dogs, but they weren't nearly as adorable as my doorstop horse!) Anyway on the ride home in my car, it struck me that Doorstop Horse would be a great name for a blog, seeing as how I'm not married and don't have kids and it's really hard to come up with interesting blog names when you don't have either of those things. Trust me, I've tried to come up with something cool and interesting in the months I've been stalking other blogs in preparation for the day that I would actually sit down and start a blog.
So with the reasoning behind the name done, how about I tell my potential readers something about myself. The name is Marie, so you might potentially come across comments on blogs in the future with the name Marie@thedoorstophorse, and that will be me :) I'm a 26 year old from and still living in, Ireland. I'm still getting to grips with this whole adulthood thing, most days I feel more like 16 than 26, I'm sure my parents dated my birth cert wrong - maybe I am younger than they say? I could just be a very smart and well adjusted 16 year old...? Ya, I don't think that one would work either. I'm a wannabe wife & mommy - well I have the boyfriend part down, but I'm still trying to convince him that we're NOT too young to move on to the marriage bit. If I can get him to the marriage bit it would be great. I dream of the day I'll have my own house to play around with! Well I know I could do that bit now, it does involve a lot of money (even in these dark & gloomy times of job losses and lack of money & the housing market falling apart - oh I'm sorry, did I get all depressing & gloomy. My bad!) So working on the boyfriend is my priority at the moment. Needless to say I won't be telling him about this blog any time soon - I don't want to send the boy running screaming to the hills!
Other than being a wannabe wife & mommy, I actually work in childcare. But I HAVE to get out of there. Honestly, I love children, but working in a daycare centre, I've come to realise, is not for me. I can deal with 1 on 1 great, 2 on 1 is still pretty great, and 3 on 1 still isn't too bad. It's when the numbers go over 3 on 1, Marie starts to lose her patience and not want to be there. It doesn't really help that I'm stuck in the same room all day every day staring at the same 4 walls, trying to come up with things to do with a dozen 1-2 year olds, and I just can't. I can't go on, so at the moment I'm trying to make do, and figure out where best to go. Get completely out of childcare, or find a job as a nanny somewhere. I have 7 weeks until I go on vacation and when I come back, I'm starting to seriously look for a job!
Besides all that, I love horses. I have been going for horse riding lessons for the last 5 years. Actually it's 5 years this month - how time flies. It's usually only once a week for a group lesson but sometimes I try and get up on a Friday for a private lesson as well. I'm hoping that maybe by this time next year I might have my own horse, which would probably be the most exciting thing that will have happened to me. I've waited for this a long time, someday I might even go in to explaining why I only took up horse riding when I was 21.
I've also recently taken up cookery lessons, I've had two so far and it's already changed my life in the terms of how I cook pasta. Again, ask me to explain that at a later date!
Besides all that, I love reading, and I plan on posting reviews on the books I'm reading as I finish them, I love music, movies (will post reviews for movies as well), taking pictures, hanging out with my friends, and well...just normal things I guess. But that's what this blog is about, it's about a normal life and what that life is shaping up to be like.
